I’ve alway really enjoyed setting up and arranging still-life compositions, especially as fall approaches. In the piece, notice, the groupings of three in the sunflowers and vegetables. Groupings of odd numbered objects appears more natural to the eye and helps the piece to feel complete. There is a strong lightsource off to the left at a 45-degree angle, which gives us the shadowing, enhancing the sense of three dimensions. There is a strong diagonal from the top left to bottom right to help the viewer navigate the piece.
